Infosys to buy UK consultancy Axon

Infosys to buy UK consultancy Axon in £407m deal The headline Infosys acquiring AxonGlobal came as a surprise to when I read the news on Timesonline . Indian companies are cash rich and they are taking over other companies in the world to improve the line of business and service offerings. "Mr Gopalakrishnan of Infosys insisted that there was still strong demand for SAP systems, with Infosys registering a 62 per cent increase in orders in the past year. He added that the deal would allow Infosys to compete more effectively on the international stage with rivals such as Accenture, Oracle and Cap Gemini. Around half of Axon’s revenue comes from the United States. “Our rationale was that with this acquisition, our global reach, scale and our ability to participate in large transformational deals would be significantly enhanced,” he said. " This is a good example of Porter's Five Forces Model for assessing Assessing the Balance of Power in a Business Sit

Sustainable Development

Sustainable development is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but in the indefinite future. The term was used by the Brundtland Commission which coined what has become the most often-quoted definition of sustainable development as development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." The field of sustainable development can be conceptually broken into three constituent parts: environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and sociopolitical sustainability. UK priorities In terms of focusing our efforts, the UK has identified four priority areas for immediate action, shared across the UK, these are: Sustainable Consumption and Production Climate Change and Energy Natural Resource Protection and Environmental Enhancement Sustainable Communities

CMA 2.0 Portal Launched

I had been busy in the development of Portal which is dedicated to Management Accountants of India. In development of the portal, inputs have been provided by lot of members especially Deverajan , RV , Prabhakar , Ashutosh and Ramesh Joshi without which it would not have been a success. The portal has general topic of discussion with members of public and dedicated area for Members of ICWAI. This platform gives an opportunity to every member to brand himself in the professional network. You will notice on every post the Educational Qualification, Website, IM details and when he/she become member of ICWAI. If a member does not have his own website, I have suggested, everyone to have their profile of linkedin. Linkedin on its own will open lot of opportunities by social networking. Why Informe ?: The choice of portal is for the simple reason it supports Web 2.0 Technology What is Web 2.0 ? Tim O'Reilly contrast the topic on his blog on Web 1.0 wi

Requirement Analysis - Humour

This is a forward from the Internet. This is a management lesson, you may quote it in your presentations. A new vacuum cleaner salesman knocked on the door on the first house of the street. A tall lady answered the door. Before she could speak, the enthusiastic salesman barged into the living room and opened a big black plastic bag and poured all the cow droppings onto the carpet. "Madam, if I could not clean this up with the use of this new powerful Vacuum cleaner, I will EAT all this dung!" exclaimed the eager salesman. "Do you need chilly sauce or ketchup with that" asked the lady. The bewildered salesman asked, "Why, madam?" "There's no electricity in the house..." said the lady MORAL: Gather all requirements and resources before working on any project and committing to the client...!!! Kick Start your career with Linkedin

I read the article on the Computer Weekly " Execs use social networking to climb career ladder " by Rebacca Thompson. A survey of 500 senior executives shows professional social networking sites are set to rival executive job boards as a way of finding new career opportunities. Some 90% of respondents said they were registered on sites such as LinkedIn , compared with just 50% posting their CV on a job board. This is quite true. You register your profile on linkedin and start networking with your colleagues. You make yourself visible to your network. Similarly you will instantly know about any change in the profile of your network. Linkedin competes with Ryze , XING , Plaxo , Yahoo! Kickstart and, the social networking site Facebook , among others. However, LinkedIn is centred on helping its users to capitalise on their business contacts , and features searching capabilities that allow users to find jobs, contacts and answers to business queries. I am fan of the job

How to identify Blind Spot in your career

According to Oxford Dictionary Blind Spot is : 1. The point of entry of the optic nerve on the retina, insensitive to light. 2 an area where a person’s view is obstructed. I was reading an article on Road Safety - " Always Check your Blind Spot " on Ministry of Transport of Ontario Website and wondered whether we can apply the same principles to our career. Principle 1: When driving, keep your eyes constantly moving, scanning the road ahead and to the side. Check your mirrors every five seconds or so. When using mirrors there is an area on each side of your vehicle where you cannot see. You may not see people or vehicles when they are in these spots. You are doing the right things every day. You reach your workplace on time, work with your co-workers to get the things done and get good appraisals every year. You review the last year to plan for the new year and make improvements for the future. One day you get the news that one of your frie
